छायामन्यस्य कुर्वन्ति तिष्ठन्ति स्वयमातपे ।

फलन्त्यपि परार्थाय वृक्षाः सत्पुरुषा इव ॥ - विक्रमचरित

ఛాయామన్యస్య కుర్వంతి తిష్ఠంతి స్వయమాతపే l

ఫలాన్యాపి పరార్థాయ వృక్షా: సత్పురుషా: ఇవ ll

దిగువన గల నేను వ్రాసిన ఈ రెండు పద్యములు పై శ్లోకము యొక్క అర్థమును అందజేయగలవు.

పరులకు నీడయు ఫలముల

అరుదౌ పలు దివ్యమైన ఔషధ శ్రేణిన్

కరుణించి ఇచ్చు చెట్లను

చిరకాలము పెంచి సేవ చేయగ వలయున్

పచ్చని చెట్టువైనిలువ పంచన చేరును పక్షిమూకలున్

వెచ్చని గూళ్ళు కట్టుకొను వీలయినన్ని చిగుళ్ళు పళ్ళనున్

ఇచ్చగ తించు హర్షమును ఎన్ని విధాలనొ చూపుకొంచు తా

మచ్చపు సంతసమ్మునకు అవ్యయ రూపము నిచ్చి గాచెడున్

‘వృక్షచ్ఛేతు వృథాయస్తు నాడీ వ్రణవాంభవేత్‌’ వ్యర్థంగా వృక్షాలను నరికేవాడు, నాడీభాగంలో పుండుగలవాడౌతాడు. అంటే ప్రాణవాయువు (ఆక్సిజన్‌) లోపం వల్ల వ్యాధిని పొందుతాడు అని అర్థము.

కావున ఏ విధముగా జూచినా చెట్టు ఒక నిస్వార్థ జీవి. దాని లక్షణాలు కొన్నయినా మనము అనుసరించితే లేక కనీసము అనుకరించితే ఈ భూమి సౌభాగ్యవంతమై విలసిల్లుతుంది.

 

छायामन्यस्य कुर्वन्ति तिष्ठन्ति स्वयमातपे ।

फलन्त्यपि परार्थाय वृक्षाः सत्पुरुषा इव ॥ - विक्रमचरित

दूसरे को छाँव देते हैं खुद धूप में खड़े रहते हैं, फल भी दूसरों के लिए होते हैं; सचमुच सत्पुरुष बनना है तो  वृक्ष जैसे होना चाहिए ।

पेड़ प्रकृती की औपम देन  है l पेड़ इस विशाल जगत की बहुमूल्य संपदा है l इन्हें हरा सोना भी कहा

जासकता है l जहां पेड़ अधिक मात्र से होते हैं वहाँ जलवायु (oxygen)स्वाच्छ होती हैl यह हमें इंधन, ओषध, भोजन, फल, फूल और छाँव भी देती है l सचमुच सत्पुरुष बनना है तो  वृक्ष जैसे होना ही चाहिए ।

chāyāmanyasya kurvanti tiṣṭhanti svayamātape ।

phalantyapi parārthāya vṛkṣāḥ satpuruṣā iva ॥ - vikramacarita

 

 (They) give shade to others (but) stand in the sun themselves; (and) bear fruit for the benefit of others; trees are like the noble.

At the outset let us pledge to ‘Save the trees’!

Trees truly are noble. They are serving for the benefit of others in every way. They take the brunt and give the best to the rest. The shade of a tree is enjoyed only by others. A tree can never enjoy its own shade. Only if the tree stands in the Sun shall the rest of the world get its shade! The tree doesn't eat his own fruit either. It is enjoyed by the people, birds and animals around it.

Above all the trees supply oxygen aplenty for our survival. Every part of the tree has some medicinal value. Charaka considered to be the first physician when asked by his Guru to get a sample of a tree which doesn’t have any medicinal value to his disciples, only Charaka came at the end with empty hands telling that he didn’t find any such tree. That is the greatness of the tree. That is the greatness of tree.

Similarly, the noble take the heat and make sure others are comfortable. They rejoice in doing that. That is what sets them apart from the rest.

True nobility is in giving happiness to others.
